Visitors to Worthing Horticultural Society’s autumn show on Saturday were greeted with a wonderful display of flowers, especially chrysanthemums and dahlias, together with some lovely flowering and foliage pot plants. There was also an excellent display of fruit and vegetables. Despite the dreadful growing conditions experienced this year, there were almost 200 entries and was one of the best autumn shows for the Society for many years. The quality of the flowers and the colours were amazing.
Best in show was shared between Linda Charman for her vase of mixed flowers and Alan Humphries for the best exhibit of dahlias. Linda also won the best cactus class and Alan won the second best vase of dahlias.
Peter Webb won the most points in the flower, fruit and vegetables classes, the best exhibit of gladioli, best exhibit of fruit, the most points in the vegetable classes, together with the Top Vase and Top Try.
Bruce Button – best chrysanthemum entry
Kent Kressner – best vase of chrysanthemum and best chrysanthemum bloom
