Wednesday 11th May 9.00am Coach Trip to Smallhythe Place, Tenterden, Kent
(National Trust) Including travel on the Kent & East Sussex Railway. First we take our coach to Bodiam and then travel on the restored Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway from Bodiam to the delightful small town of Tenterden arriving by 12.30 pm. After looking round and perhaps lunch at one of the many pubs or restaurants, we continue with an afternoon visit to nearby Smallhythe Place (NT). The half-timbered house, built in the early 16th century when Smallhythe was a thriving shipbuilding yard, was the home of the Victorian actress Ellen Terry from 1899 to 1928, and contains her fascinating theatre collection.
